Canal Walk: Johnsons Hillock

What better way to spend a winters Sunday than on the towpath. We parked at Botany Bay and walked up to the Top Lock to have a drink. Its a very nice pub and well recommmended. We had a quick look at the footpath along the former Walton Summit Branch for future reference then back to the car. The canal was frozen and the ducks were waddling along in single file looking most put out.

Canal Dock Link Liverpool

On Saturday we went to look at the dock link which is very nearly finished now.

Above is the new bridge linking Princes Dock with Princes Half Tide Dock. Before it was completely blocked off, now there is a new concrete bridge to allow boats through.

This is the new lock in the dock. This is where boats will enter the lock in Princes Dock and then the tunnel under St Nicholas Place.

This is the North Basin, in front of the Liver Buildings. It wont be long before boats are passing though here.

This is where the new canal link enters the dock. In the background is the new museum, on the right is the monsterous black building designed to hide the 3 Graces from view. The red thing is the light boat in the dock.
